What We Believe

What We Believe

1. GOD

We believe that God is the creator of the universe, and as such is the creator of humanity. Because of this, he holds authority in lives to guide and direct our lives.

2. SCRIPTURE

We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired, and therefore it is without error in its original form. We believe that many parts of the Bible are meant to be understood literally, and many others are meant to be understood figuratively.

3. JESUS

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We believe the claims made in Scripture about him, that he was born of a virgin, that he lived a life without sin, and that after his death on a cross he rose back to life.

4. SALVATION

We believe that we are saved from the penalty of our rebellion against God when we accept and have faith in Jesus Christ.

5. BAPTISM AND COMMUNION

We believe that baptism was meant to be the first act of faith in Jesus for all Christ-followers and is meant to symbolize that we are willing to die to ourselves and raise into new life with Jesus. Communion is meant to be a continual reminder of that decision and the sacrifice of Jesus that allows it to be possible.

6. THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is given to all Christ-followers when they accept faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers, leads, and guides all believers.

Our Mission

OUR MISSION

Our mission is simple. We want to be FOR the community of Portsmouth, OH 45662. The Gospel is not meant to simply redeem people, but everything around it. We desire to bring light and life to the city of Portsmouth. In other words, we want to LOVE Portsmouth. We accomplish this by living our our FOR Values.

Our Values

OUR VALUES

1. FORBELONGING

We desire that every single person that we interact with, whether at church on Sunday or at the grocery store on Wednesday knows that they are valued and welcome.

2. FORAUTHENTICITY

We believe that being authentic means embracing our brokenness. But it also means embracing the strengths and weaknesses that we all have.

3. FORSERVICE

We believe that you cannot love if you don't serve. We believe that each person should be serving the Kingdom and their community.

4. FORMISSION

We believe that we can't truly embrace the mission of God if we do not embrace his Word. Because of this we desire to both hear and do.
